Our Mission

Courage is a social campaign dedicated to spreading age positivity and empowering people to courageously own their age!

Part of our job is to educate society about aging and the impact ageism has on ourselves and others. Understanding that aging is a natural and valuable part of life will allow everyone to move forward with a better sense of empathy and awareness. You can get involved by posting your stories to social media using #agepositivity and help us build a community devoted to combating ageism. Also be sure to take the pledge. It’s time to value people of all ages and it all starts with a little bit of courage!

What is ageism?

Ageism refers to how we think, feel and act towards people based on their age. It finds its way into our institutions, relationships and self image.

Is it really a problem?

Yes! Ageism lives in many of our institutions. It influences our health and social care, the media, the workplace and the legal system. Globally, one in two people are ageist against older people! Populations are living longer so if you want to ensure your quality of life, stand up to ageism.

Why should I pledge?

To combat ageism, we need to make a collective effort. It doesn’t matter what age you are now, ageism will impact you. The pledge allows you to take on ageism for yourself or others.

Half the world’s population is ageist toward older people!

ARE YOU?

Let's find out.

GOOD JOB!

Its time we respect people of all ages!

You found it!

Ageism makes other forms of discrimination like sexism, racism and ableism worse. In this case, you are potentially enforcing ageist and sexist beauty standards onto your grandma. Best to just tell your grandma she is beautiful and leave her age out of it.

Nice work, but see if you can find the bubble with age bias to learn more about the different kinds you might encounter.

Younger people also face the negative impacts of age bias. These stereotypes create generational gaps and less interaction between age groups. Less interaction will lead to more ageism.

Internalized ageism is when we turn age stereotypes against ourselves. Then we associate negative feelings about our own aging. This thinking is detrimental to our mental and physical health. Stay positive and be kind to yourself!
